Eating Like an Athlete When You Don’t Have Time to Cook Like One

Training asks a lot of the kitchen. More food than most people eat. Protein at every meal. The right fuel before practice and the right recovery after. Often a weight class or a body composition target on top of that.

And the schedule leaves almost no time to cook it. Practice, lifts, film, travel, class or media. So the plan from the sports dietitian sits on the counter while dinner is takeout again.

Chefs who cook to your performance plan

The Travelling Cafe is a collective of personal chefs in Chapel Hill and the Triangle. We cook every week in our clients’ own kitchens.

Your sports dietitian or performance staff sets the plan: how much protein, how many calories, when to eat what. We cook the plan your dietitian set. We don’t write nutrition plans or set targets. Your team does. We make sure the food is in the fridge, made right, and something you want to eat.

Built around the training week

  • More food when the training volume is high.
  • Protein at every meal, to the plan.
  • Meals that travel to practice or the facility.
  • Menus that change for in-season, off-season and game week.

If you’re also managing an allergy, celiac or another dietary need, we cook that too, at the same price.

How it works

  1. Tell us your plan. Fill out our food questionnaire: what your dietitian set, your training schedule, and what you like to eat.
  2. Meet your chef. We match you with a chef from the collective.
  3. Open the fridge. Your chef shops, cooks in your kitchen, labels everything and cleans up.

Groceries are included. Nothing is billed separately.

Every dietary need, same price.

What changes

Without help, the plan doesn’t get followed, because nobody has the hours to cook that much food that well.

With a chef in your kitchen, the week’s fuel is made and ready. You put your hours into training.

We cook in homes across Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Pittsboro, Hillsborough and Chatham County.

Start with our food questionnaire. Send us your plan and your schedule.

With you at the table.
