The Travelling Cafe is a collective of personal chefs serving the Triangle area of North Carolina. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit thetravellingcafe.com or book with us, how we use it, and the choices you have. This is a plain language policy written for our clients and guests. It is not legal advice.

What we collect
We only collect what we need to cook for you, run our classes and events, and stay in touch.
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email, phone number and address, when you fill out a form, book a service, sign up for a class, or join our email list.
- Household and food details you choose to share so we can cook safely and well for you, such as who is in your household, food likes and dislikes, allergies, and dietary needs.
- Booking and order details, such as the services, classes, events or gift cards you buy, and the dates you choose.
- Quiz and guide sign ups, such as your name, email and the answers you give, when you request one of our free guides or take a quiz on our site.
- Website visit information collected automatically, such as pages viewed, how you found our site, your general location by city or region, and your device and browser type.
Food, allergy and health information
Many of our clients cook with us because of allergies or a medical diet. When you share that kind of information, we use it only to plan and prepare your food safely. We share it only with the chef or chefs who cook for you. We are a personal chef service, not a medical provider, so this information is not covered by HIPAA, but we treat it with the same care.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Services that help us run our business
We use a small number of trusted services to run our website and business. Each one handles your information under its own privacy policy.
- Google Analytics (through Site Kit by Google) to understand visits to our site. It uses cookies and collects website visit information. It does not tell us who you are by name. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt out browser add on.
- Google Search Console to see how people find us in Google search.
- Square to process payments, send invoices and run our email newsletter. We never see or store your full card number.
- WooCommerce to run our online shop, class tickets and event bookings.
- Gift Up to sell and redeem gift cards.
- WPForms to collect the forms you fill out on our site.
- Google Workspace for our business email.
- GoDaddy to host our website.
Cookies
Cookies are small files saved by your browser. Our site uses cookies to make the shop and checkout work, to remember your cart, and to count visits through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like checkout, may not work without them.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information while you are a client or on our email list, and afterward only as long as we need it for our records, taxes and the law. You can ask us to delete it at any time, as described below.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the personal information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. Just email leslie@thetravellingcafe.com and we will take care of it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link at the bottom of any email.
Keeping your information safe
We use secure checkout through our payment providers and limit who on our team can see your information to the people who need it to serve you. No website or email system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect what you share with us.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13. When a parent tells us about children in the household so we can cook for them, we use that only to serve the family.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other sites, such as social media and payment pages. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies too.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
