You started Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound or Mounjaro. The appetite went quiet. A few bites in, you’re full.
That part is the medication working. The new problem is what’s left on the plate. When you eat this little, every bite has to carry more. Your clinician gave you a protein target. Hitting it with a smaller appetite is harder than it sounds.
Most people aren’t getting there. In one survey, 75% of GLP-1 users said they were trying to eat more protein, but only 43% were getting an adequate amount. (Source: glp1clinics.org)
Food stops being something to look forward to. It turns into a calculation three times a day.
You shouldn’t have to do the math alone
The Travelling Cafe is a collective of personal chefs in Chapel Hill and the Triangle. We cook in your own kitchen, every week, for households where the way someone eats is not optional.
GLP-1 cooking is one of the protocols we cook most. Our chefs know how to put real protein at the center of a small plate, keep it gentle on the days your stomach is unsure, and make a few bites taste like a meal.
We cook the plan your clinician or dietitian set. We don’t set protein targets or give medical advice. You bring the plan from your care team. We bring the cooking.
What GLP-1 cooking asks of a kitchen
- Protein first. Each meal is built around the protein, not around the starch.
- Small and complete. Portions sized to a smaller appetite, with vegetables and good fats that pull their weight.
- Gentle when it needs to be. Lighter preparations for days when nausea is in the room.
- Flavor that does the work. Bright, layered flavor so a smaller plate still satisfies.
Takeout and most meal kits are built for a bigger appetite. That’s exactly the wrong shape for this.
One menu for the whole household
Often only one person in the house is on a GLP-1. We don’t cook a separate plate for them. We build one menu everyone eats, right-sized for the person on the medication and fuller for everyone else. Nobody at the table has to be the odd one out.
How it works
- Tell us how you eat now. Fill out our food questionnaire: where you are with the medication, what your care team set, and what you actually like to eat.
- Meet your chef. We match you with a chef from the collective who cooks your plan.
- Open the fridge. Your chef shops, cooks in your kitchen, labels everything and cleans up. The week’s meals are ready to heat.
Groceries are included. Nothing is billed separately.
Every dietary need, same price.
What changes
Without help, the protein target becomes one more thing you’re failing at. Meals get skipped because nothing sounds good and nothing is ready.
With a chef in your kitchen each week, the question of what to eat is already answered. The food is ready, it fits your plan, and it tastes like something you’d choose.
We cook in homes across Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Pittsboro, Hillsborough and Chatham County.
Start with our food questionnaire. Tell us where you are with the medication and what’s been hard to eat. We’ll take it from there.
With you at the table.
